Lionsgate presents Knives Out as a 2019 film written and directed by Rian Johnson. After crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate, Detective Benoit Blanc is drawn into an investigation where everyone in the dysfunctional family is a suspect. He has to untangle conflicting stories and red herrings to uncover what happened.
The familiar whodunit framework becomes a lively study of wealth, family loyalty, and who gets believed. Its ensemble of sharply different characters gives the mystery comic spark, while the detective's careful attention keeps the puzzle in focus. Knives Out may appeal to viewers who enjoy clever ensemble mysteries, playful twists, and a modern story built with affection for classic detective fiction.
